Red Cliff Blew The Box Office Storm In Asia

New record in Chinese box office history has been written down along with the release of the reportedly Asia's most expensive ever film, John Woo’s “Red Cliff.” The film banked almost 27 million yuan ($US3.91 million) at the box office on its first day of release and total earning in its first weekend in China is 108 million yuan ($15.8 million), according to the China Film Group, setting a record among Chinese-made movies. Its opening day box-office takings were the highest on the mainland so far this year, and higher than last year's Hollywood blockbuster "Transformers," which took 22.41 million yuan on its first day.
