This last entry (and a previous entry from last week at The Most Beautiful Fraud in the World) was one of forty essays contributed to the Monster Mash Blogathon held this past July 28-August 2 at Forgotten Classics of Yesteryear, an event that featured participation from several of the LAMB’s classic movie blog members. In fact, there are a number of upcoming blogathons of interest to film fans coming up in the near future—one of which will commemorate the recent centennial birthday of director Nicholas Ray and will be hosted by Cinema Viewfinder from September 5-8. Interested LAMBs are encouraged to mosey on over to that blog for the skinny on all the details.
On a personal note, I want to thank each and every one of you good people who take the time to e-mail your submissions to me every week to keep Classic Chops healthy and running strong—the response has been simply tremendous, and there have been times in the past when I’ve had to “hold over” people’s contributions due to the sheer volume of entries. Rest assured, if you’ve sent me something in the past and it hasn’t shown up yet I’ve definitely got it in the queue…and if the support for this feature continues I may have beef up the weekly slots another notch or two. Even though I originally set the criterion at films released in 1965 and before, I have “cheated” a little and included films after that date that I don’t think too many people would dispute are “classics.” Simply send your submissions to classicchops@gmail.com by August 16 at 6:00pm EST …and any questions, comments, suggestions and baseball pennants should be addressed to that same e-mail address as well.
As always…until next time…see you at the movies!
