The Power of Music And Friendship In The Soloist

Expected to be some serious contender in Oscar this year, but it seems the distributor had another thing in their mind. In last minute, they made the decision to push "The Soloist" date release from Nov. 21 to March 13 and now April 24, a decision that wasn’t pleased by DreamWorks, Working Title and CAA as the production company, also the director Joe Wright and two actors Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. "We were blindsided," said one CAA agent. A Hollywood insider even speculated that the film was being delayed for being a DreamWorks movie in the wake of the company’s unpleasant divorce with Paramount. Meanwhile, Paramount marketing execs figure "The Soloist" is an accessibly commercial picture that will have a better shot all around in April.
