URL: jamsmooth.com
Site Name: JamSmooth.com
Categories: Reviews
Rating: PG-13
What is the main focus of your site?
Film Reviews, Fitness and my own comic videos.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I'd love to generate enough revenue from my blog to make it my sole source of income. I am constantly testing new ideas and series to see which ones folks like. I recently completed a poll and across the board my film reviews was the favorite topic of my blog.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
Of course, that's what the Internet is all about, engagement.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Since January 2006. I post at least 3 times a week.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Clockwork Orange
I Love You, Man
How did you hear about the LAMB?

LAMBcast #78: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2
Well, the intention was to talk about Deahtly Hallows, Part 2, anyway. Instead, it turned into a lengthy discussion on just about all of the Potter films (and books), as superfan Nick hosted the ep alongside Potter reader Sebastian and film watcher-only Dylan. If you're into the minutiae of the series, then this is the show for you.

LAMB #1041 - Better Than Avatar
URL: http://www.betterthanavatar.com/
Site Name: Better Than Avatar
Categories: Reviews, General, Humor, Lists
Rating: PG
What is the main focus of your site?
Better than Avatar started as a movie review blog that specifically compared all movies to Avatar, a movie which I did not like. It has since morphed into more of a general movie review blog. I review more than just new releases, and like to spread the word about under the radar films or films people may have missed or forgotten about.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
For me, it was just about doing something that I love. I love movies, and have for most of my life, but I wanted to do more than just watch them. I love talking about them as well, and blogging allows me to talk about movies on a broader scale than just in conversations. It would be great if anything came out of this, like a job or a career even, but that's not why I do it. I do it for the movies.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
I'd like for my readers to interact with me. I'd love for people to suggest movies to watch.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Site has been active since February of 2011. Posts are done about 3-5 times per week, sometimes daily.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Clerks, Memento, Pootie Tang.
How did you hear about the LAMB?

When a Samurai Seek an Honorable End in Hara-kiri Way
Takashi Miike’s “Thirteen Assassins” remake has widely considered as one of Japan’s best films of 2010, therefore, the director is back with another effort to remake another classic in Japan’s movie history. This time, Miike’s target is the 1963 Cannes Film Festival’s Special Jury Award winner “Harakiri” (Japanese: Seppuku) directed by acclaimed filmmaker Masaki Kobayashi. Miike’s new film originally titled “Ichimei” in Japan language that loosely translated as “A Life”, a complete contradictory to the international release title “Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai”, right? The 1962 film itself was actually an adaptation of “Ibun rônin-ki” novel written by Yasuhiko Takiguchi about an out of work samurai who wants to commit seppuku

Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering #56: Ticker Talks Film
It's Blusterin' Time!
If you're new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here are the basics:
What I do is list a site; you critique it. But here's the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don't leave the comment using your normal alias/login - instead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don't be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I'll have no problem deleting the comment.
So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.
And remember: Blustering should be a two-way street; if you've asked to be blustered, you better be a blusterer.

If you would like to have your blog blustered by fellow LAMBs, please send me an email containing your site's info and "Bluster Me!" in the subject line.

Dear good people at LAMB,
I have a shameless plug i hope you can help me with.
I am advertising a film maker's blog which will detail the steps he takes in trying to get his project made. He is also looking for funding.
You may have already seen my post at http://blahblahblahgay.blogspot.com/2011/07/blahblahblahplugs-bloody-bay-movie.html which links to the bloody bay blog at http://bloodybayfilm.blogspot.com/.
I know it's slightly different from what I usually see on the LAMB, but if you can help spread word that would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, don't get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details (what, when, where, and a link, for starters) - I'll handle the rest.

I know most of us LAMB Blogs are movie centred, but I'm sure that most - if not all of us - spend some time watching TV, even if they don't blog about it. But, I like hearing what film blogs think about TV and with the 2010/2011 TV season just recently over now is as good a time as any. Forget the Emmy's and their often skewed choices, I'm not asking you to make a list of nominees, or even to pick what's necessarily your favourite TV show. All I'm asking is for you to shine a light on any episode of any scripted show which aired between June 1st 2010 and May 31st 2011. It could be a drama or a comedy, a fantasy or a thriller - which episode do you feel made the medium proud? Post your choices on or before August 6th when the list is posted.

LAMB #1031 - Garbo Laughs
URL: http://garbolaughs.wordpress.com/
Site Name: Garbo Laughs
Categories: Reviews, Humor, Classic Film
Rating: PG-13
What is the main focus of your site?
Garbo Laughs is a classic film blog with a focus on reviews, original articles, and general worship of Old Hollywood films and stars.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I'm somewhat of a "selective learner" when it comes to film; things I like I will obsess over and study voraciously, and things I don't like I will ignore. My knowledge of the history of film, therefore, is fairly esoteric, and definitely slumps in a few important areas. Part of the reason I am doing this blog is to improve my knowledge and enjoyment of classic film on the whole.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
I'm here to learn, not to teach, and my hope is that readers will get enjoyment and fulfillment from hearing about classic film from the perspective of someone who doesn't know it all.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
As of the date of this submission, Garbo Laughs has been active for nine months. I update 2-3 times a week on average -- sometimes more, rarely less.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Freaks (1932, dir. Tod Browning); My Favorite Wife (1940, dir. Leo McCarey); Hud (1963, dir. Martin Ritt)

Classic Chops: July 27th
Good news, everyone! We’re back with another edition of “Classic Chops”…
At the beginning of the month, I announced here on the blog that we would try something different this week in that we would set aside an edition of the Chops devoted to featuring reviews of movies spotlighting unusual or memorable dream sequences. The response…was underwhelming to say the least. But I am pleased to announce that we did receive three entries in our “Dreamscape” edition of Classic Chops, which I present for your edification below:
Site Name: Duke and the Movies
Site Name: Duke and the Movies
Site Name: Silver Emulsion
Submitted by: Silver Emulsion
Site Name: Korova Theatre Presents
Submitted by: Korova Theatre Presents
And I’d also like to draw attention to these classic film links submitted by some of the C.C. faithful:
Site Name: Silent Volume

Site Name: The Late, Late Show

Site Name: Via Margutta 51

Classic Chops enthusiastically welcomes any essay or post you’ve composed on a film classic—and even though I originally set the criterion at films released in 1965 and before, I have “cheated” a little and included films after that date that I don’t think too many people would dispute are “classics.” Simply send your submissions to classicchops@gmail.com by August 2 at 6:00pm EST …and any questions, comments, suggestions and decaffeinated iced tea bags should be addressed to that same e-mail address as well.
As always…until next time…see you at the movies!

PLUG: Amiresque
Hey everyone!
Amir, from the blog Amiresque, and I have just started a new series called "A Good Year" in which we discuss a year in which a particular cinematic trend was prevalent - be it a strong slew of films from one director, several great performances from a single actor, or the revival of a genre. In our first episode we're talking about the recent year 2007, and the Western revival that took place with the films "No Country for Old Men", "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford", and "3:10 to Yuma". Come check it out!

Happy blogging,
Robert
Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, don't get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details (what, when, where, and a link, for starters) - I'll handle the rest.

LAMB #1029 - Random Mexican's Movie Review Extravaganza
URL: flicksfan.blogspot.com
Site Name: Random Mexican's Movie Review Extravaganza
Categories: Reviews, News, (Other) Trailers
Rating: PG
What is the main focus of your site?
Main focus is reviews of films mostly but TV series on occassion. I'll also post trailers for upcoming movies that catch my eye and any interesting movie or TV news.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
My personal goals are mainly personal, it serves as an archive for films I watch and if any readers get anything out of it that’s all gravy .
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
I think discussion is far better when dealing with something as subjective as criticism of films and shows.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I’ve been blogging since 2006 via Myspace and moved that blog to blogger around about 2008 or 2009. Typically, I’ll post a movie review a week at the very least.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Dr. Strangelove, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Rocky Horror Picture Show
How did you hear about the LAMB?
Found a link and followed it.
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that's not listed above.
My blog tends to skew nerdy and I’ve never been one to claim the best editing skills, so there are typos from time to time but I try to limit them as much as possible.
